There is a high demand in a number of industries for different chemical solutions. As a result the manufacture of chemicals is big business as various companies working in different industries need certain solutions and compounds in order to continue their services.

The chemical producing industry has faced some bad press in the past largely due to concerns about environment damage caused by this industry and the effect it can have on peoples’ health, particularly those who live in close proximity to sites where harmful chemicals are processed. However, the industry has cleaned up its act somewhat and there is a great emphasis placed on safety and reducing the impact on the environment. Today chemical solutions are prepared in a very safe and environmentally friendly way and waste products are carefully disposed off.

Although there is some opposition to this industry if it didn’t exist then we’d be left without a number of the product we use on a daily basis and take for granted. For example, plastics, which we are quite dependent on, with thousands if not millions of products being manufactured from them, would not exist without the petrochemical industry. Also, a lot of the items that are used in the production of food could not exist either, in fact very few things would exist without the chemical industry.
